It is inherent on how the mind works- it overlays experiences from the past or habits to “inform” us if it is wrong.

Relax and give space to the feeling- observe with out judgement.

It is easy to follow old patterns- as a default setting almost- think of it like a well worn path in the woods- habit clears an area and the mind and body- which are often naturally lazy want to stay with the known even if it is not the best for your health.

It takes courage to change direction- and often it is uncomfortable at first- like a a new pair of shoes. Once broken in-that new path that pair of shoes- gets easier.

Novelty as direction is difficult for me or at least it used to be.

Alexander Technique was new (granted) a long time ago- it required an open mind and body & what was once new is now a familiar direction

    Being present.

I found that when I was working a goal with only that in mind I did not reflect on any of the steps that got me to the goal and I did not appreciate the achieved goal- instead I was onto the “next” thing and the “next” thing after that

Mindfulness gives you the space to be “right & wrong”.

    Hi, this is Christa.

I was Ellen’s first student and Alexander Technique became an integral part of my life.
